Ralph L. Trotter

Ralph Lester Trotter, 67, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, with his family by his side.

Ralph was born May 3, 1957, in Winterset, Iowa to Ralph Berdean Trotter and Doris Ilene (Murphy) Trotter. He lived in Redfield, Iowa and Florida before settling in the Des Moines area where he has lived for the past 30 years. Ralph worked as a dishwasher for Spaghetti Works, retiring in 2015. He loved fishing and classic cars. He liked working on cars and going to the races. He was a great friend to many and he loved his friends like they were extended family. He was the oldest of is brothers and would always look out for them.

Ralph is survived by his brothers, Roy Trotter, Ron (Robin) Trotter, and Ray (Peggy) Trotter; nieces and nephews, Cassy, Ryan, Michael, Sara, and Christina; stepsons, Harrison Frost and Rodney Courtney; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Denise Trotter; parents, Ralph and Doris Trotter; and his sister, Mary Katherine “Kathy”.

There will be a graveside service with a time of sharing at Harper Cemetery in Redfield, Iowa on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ralph.

I had the pleasure of knowing Ralph so many, many years ago, when Ralph's brother, Roy, was a roommate of mine in a Des Moines apartment.

I remember Ralph always knew how to have a good time! He was happy go lucky and always very respectful. We welcomed him any time and if he got tired , we always had some floor space on the living room carpet that he could help himself to, and he did many a times.

Through the years, I lost track of all the Trotter men. I think I ran into Ray one time many years ago. But I often would think of each of them and wondered where they were today.
