Russell Overton

Russell Dean Overton II, 69, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 14, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Russell was born July 1, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to Russell D. and Gloria J. (McElvogue) Overton.
Growing up, Russell was involved with the “YMCA Bell Ringers”. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1973. Russell worked as a salesman at various companies throughout his life. He married Debra L. (Kendall) on September 28, 1985. Prior to his declining health, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and shooting pool. Above all, Russell loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was playing the slot machines at casinos and he especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Overton; children, Michael Overton, Russell (Jill) Overton, Heidi (John) Nickol, and Megan (Rick) Stradley; sister, Cheryl Overton; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and his fur-baby girl, Maggie.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gloria Overton; and his sister, Deborah Blasky.
Interment will take place at Avon Cemetery in the spring, 2025.

Sorry to hear of Russ's passing. He was a classmate of mine and we were on the swim and golf teams together. We were partners in the Sport Hill Golf Course Memorial Day golf tournament shortly after our graduation. We hung around together quite a bit. My condolences to the family.
