Roxann "Runa" Marie (Campbell) O'Neil

We are heartbroken to announce the death of Roxann (Runa) Marie Campbell who was a caring and loving mother, sister, Tia, and friend. She left this world suddenly on January 11, 2024, at 65 years of age.

She was born to Dixie and Kenneth Campbell on June 28, 1956, in Chariton, Iowa, and is survived by her daughter Monique Noele Johnson age 44, brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews.

Roxann was a resilient and courageous woman who packed in many adventures in her early years as a young mother. She was blessed to experience life living and traveling with Monique in Guam and the Philippines eventually landing in California for several years. She loved the ocean and San Diego where she spent many happy years working and raising her daughter.

After a traumatic back injury her resilience was matched by her deep love for her family. Her daughter was the pride of her life, and her family was the glue. Moving back to Des Moines to be close to her loved ones was of great comfort to her. Here she lived and created her life with the people that meant the most to her.

Roxann’s fearless spirit, witty personalities, boundless love, and creative soul will be missed beyond description, but never forgotten. Her limitless efforts to help all that were in her life as best she could, will serve as a reminder of her adventurous spirit, her toughness in the face of living her life, and the confident love she demonstrated throughout it.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
