Richard Glandon

Richard Eugene Glandon, age 91, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Richard was born July 12, 1933, in Le Mars, Iowa to William and Josie Glandon. He was raised in Chillicothe, Iowa, then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he met his wife, Betty Glandon. Richard loved to travel to Vegas, and “walk the Strip”. He was very artistic and enjoyed crafts. He did diamond art as well as other types of artwork. Richard stayed very busy during his life; he retired three different times! Most recently he worked in food service and hospitality for Drake University.

He is survived by his dear friends and caretakers, Joyce Allensworth, Breonna, Kelsie and Chivonne Allensworth, who loved him like he was their grandpa. They took him in “temporarily” 17 years ago. He was a member of their family.

Richard was preceded in death by his second wife, Betty Glandon; daughter from his first marriage, Brenda Glandon; his parents, Josie and William Glandon; sister, Shirley Glandon; brother, Willie Glandon; as well as his other extended family members.

Cremation will occur and there will be no formal services held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Allensworth family in care of Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
