Patricia Ann Morgan
April 25, 1947 — May 05, 2026
Patricia Ann Morgan, age 79, passed on May 5, 2026.
Pat was born April 25, 1947, and was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. She was a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor and was always generous with her time and her money. If you were in need of something, she would strive to make it happen. If she bought something for herself and loved it, chances are you would receive one too.
Pat graduated from East High School and started working for Younkers at the downtown location. Many promotions followed, as a buyer, assistant manager, and then manager.
She was manager at the Eastgate, Southridge, Newton, and Marshalltown stores and retired after 40 years while managing the Merle Hay store.
Because of her many years “on the floor” at the various Younkers locations, she always ran into people who knew, or remembered her, everywhere she went!
Pat enjoyed antiques and going to thrift stores to hunt for treasures. She was very crafty and had an eye for design. Her home was filled with unique items and she was approached once about having her home featured in a magazine, but politely declined. Pat was a private person.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Morgan; sister, Sandy Morgan; and nephew, Tre Ray.
Left to cherish her memories are sisters, Shirley Kepford and Linda (Jerry) Fees; nephews, Scott Kepford and Steve (Marta) Kepford; niece, Michelle Ray; great-nieces, Bailey (Sean) Diehl and Ashley Armstrong; great-nephews, Noah and Robert Kepford; great-great-niece, Aubrey Springer; and a host of longtime friends.
No services are planned per Pat’s wishes.
Our hearts are heavy from the loss of our beloved Pat, but I know Heaven had a joyous celebration the night of May 5th.

I met Pat when we attended East Des Moines High School. We quickly became great friends and I have so many terrific memories from that time. When she started at Younkers Ii would frequently go visit her there after I got off work. She would grab some dresses and we’d go into a dressing room so we could talk. I really expanded my wardrobe then. She sales s picked good things. We have been friends ever since. The memories just keep coming up. I just loved her. We didn’t see each other much after My husband and I moved to Arkansas but we kept up with each other by phone and lunches when we visited Des Moines. She was such a fantastic person who will be missed by so many.
