Nina Moore

Nina C. Moore, 86, passed peacefully on March 23, 2025 with her family at her side. Nina was born to Evert and Margaret Davis in Eldora, Iowa on December 23, 1938.

During the family years Nina was a tireless mother and homemaker. Later when the family was grown she worked and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Nina loved to travel with family and friends. A few of her favorite exciting destinations were Russia, Australia, Africa, and Mexico. When she wasn’t traveling you could find her outdoors working in the garden, planting flowers, or mowing the lawn. Nina lived a full, happy life.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Kathy) Schlenker and Todd (Sue) Schkenker; son-in-law, Bob Higgins; three grandchildren, Cailey (Dalton) Dolash, Cole (Tracie) Schlenker, and Willow Schlenker; sister, Darla Davis; nieces, Tracey Rasmussen and Tammy Haugen; great niece, Kelsey Cole; and great nephews, Brandon Rasmussen and Nick Welch.

Nina was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jodi Schlenker; parents; and great nephew, Cody Haugen.

Family will greet friends Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation.
