Michael Lee Carter Jr., affectionately known as Bumper, was born on May 18, 1978, to Michael Lee Carter Sr. and Dana L. Minor. He passed away October 19th, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of unity, confidence, and love.

From an early age, Bumper was known for his incredible athleticism and adventurous spirit. Whether he was flipping off the highest structures or honing his skills on the basketball court, he pushed the limits and challenged the norms. His love for motorsports, particularly three-wheelers and dirt bikes, showcased his thrill-seeking nature. A gifted musician, Bumper had a special affinity for drums and keyboards, expressing his creativity and passion through music and song.

In adulthood, Bumper's confidence and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish multiple successful businesses, including studios, clothing stores, a barbershop, and tucking business. His passion for barbering was evident in the way he lit up when he held clippers.

Bumper was a man of deep faith, devoted to leading others to the cause of Christ. His extravagant and bold personality shone through both his fashion choices and lifestyle, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.

Bumper was family oriented and his love for his family was profound. He dedicated much of his time to organizing family events. Bumper held dear the relationships with his family. His closest confidants and friends were family members.

Bumper is survived by his beloved grandparents Norma Jean Carter and Allen Meadors. His mother Dana L. Minor and father Michael Lee Carter Sr. His Step-Mom Wanda Carter, Mother-in-law Francene Turner, and Step-Father Isaac Moore. His devoted wife and closest confidant Temmera Donnelly-Carter. His children Montesha Carter, Jamie Jimmerson, Zoe Carter, Michael Carter III, Azariah Carter, and Jhyire Carter who will carry on his legacy and lessons he taught them. His siblings Lamonte Fisher, De’Tray Wade, Ericka Carter, Ronald Carter, Shanise Moore, Breonna Harvey, brother-in-law Davon Harvey and numerous aunts, uncles, a niece, nephews, and cousins all of whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his family, Bumper leaves behind a circle of friends who brought joy and support to his life. Each of us has been touched by Bumper in unique ways and it is in our memories and stories that Bumpers spirit will live on.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2024, with funeral service following at 12:00 p.m., at Lutheran Church of Hope+Elim, 2500 University Ave., Des Moines. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.
