Ketarah B. Hinton
October 07, 1988 — May 04, 2026
Ketarah Bertha Hinton, 37, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at her home in Des Moines.
Ketarah was born October 7, 1988, in Des Moines, Iowa. Known for her strength and resilience, she was fun, outgoing, and wild, and you knew when she entered a room! She carried a profound love and respect for her father and deeply cherished her entire family. That love was evident in the unwavering way she showed up for others, offering support, care, and presence whenever it was needed most.
Ketarah had a deep love for music and always enjoyed expressing herself through her unique sense of style, especially the latest Jordans. She was a woman who made things happen no matter the circumstances. She was outspoken, an innovator, and a motivator. Even when she had little to give, she gave generously of her time — the most genuine and precious gift of all. Ketarah was intelligent and full of drive and determination. She was a hustler and a money-getter. She loved hard and was loyal to those she held close.
She is survived by her parents, Earl and Melissa Hinton; siblings, Sam Farrell, Matt (Andrea) Farrell, Marc (Crystal) McCollister Jr., Lakesha (Mike Bennett) Hinton, and Justine (Stephanie Burkett) Hinton; her six children, Daquan, Damion Jr., Damius, Dezyon, Daymiona, and Lyric; and a host of other family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ketarah was preceded in death by her moms, Shannon and Patrina; and mema, Jane.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ketarah.
