Judy Cardis

Judy Cardis, 75, passed away on April 9, 2024. She was born on May 7, 1948 to Guy and Ethel (Mills) Whistler.

Judy enjoyed spending her time fishing, bowling, and was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. Judy loved caring for her beloved pets and held a strong love for all of them. Judy put all her effort into anything she was asked, she was a very hard worker. She was her children’s biggest fan and attended each of their sporting events growing up. Judy loved to make memories by going above and beyond to make holidays special to her family. Judy treasured her time with family, especially that of her grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Steven Cardis; daughters, Teresa (Damon) Punsalan and Sherry (Todd) Carpenter; son, Steve Cardis; daughter-in-law, Tina Cardis; grandchildren, Kayla Post, Madison Punsalan, Kacie (Sam) Anderson, Chloe Carpenter, and Josh Cardis; great grandchildren Eleanor, Violet, and Walker; along with many other loving relatives and special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy Whistler and Ethel (Mills) Hamilton; and brothers, Ernie, Bobby, and Tom Whistler.

Family will greet friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place following funeral services at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Animal Rescue League, or the Wounded Warrior Project in loving memory of Judy Cardis.
