Judy Smith
June 14, 1943 — September 22, 2023
Judith Smith, 80, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2023 with family and her dogs, Stretch and Sophie by her side.
She was born June 14, 1943 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Kenny and Ella Mae Winters. Judy loved fiercely and fiercely protected those that she loved. No one liked to have a good time more than Judy and she had the sense-of-humor to go with it. She never knew a stranger and considered you a friend after even the briefest conversation. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her love of the outdoors was unmatched. It didn’t matter what the season, she was outdoors enjoying whatever God had provided that day
Judy also loved to work and worked up until March of this year. She owned and operated a successful business for the past 30 years. She employed people that most would overlook and made an impact on many of their lives. Judy just loved people and thought everyone deserved at the very least a second chance, and many times also a third and fourth. Her work ethic and determination were unmatched. That determination was exhibited until the very end.
Left to mourn this great loss are her children, Jeff Smith and Jacqlyn Smith-Crabb; siblings, Barbara (Charlie) Weaver, Donna Jean (Steve) Coffman; grandchildren, Amanda Crabb, Ashley Faith, Mika Crabb, Harley Smith, and Carter Smith; many great-grandchildren; and best friend Sue Sandeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Ella Mae Winters; brother, Eldon Winters; and son in law, Mike Crabb.
Private graveside service will be held at a later date at Pine Hill Cemetery, 524 NW 54th Avenue Des Moines, Iowa.
Online condolences can be expressed at www.Hamiltonsfuneralhome.com
Rest Peacefully Judy. We love you forever and ever and even still.

Judy was a kind soul that helped so many. I worked with her at the landfill for many years and she always had a smile on her face. She had some great stories to share! She will be missed

So sorry to hear about Judy's passing. She was one of our favorite customers at the landfill. I was just thinking about her the other day! She will be missed!

I remember her Dad asking my Dad how many times he had replaced the mufflers on my car. He said he was constantly replacing Judy's muffler's. She had found a way to make her mufflers burn out as she liked them loud. She put the water hose in them. She was a fun loving character & loved life.

Sue and family, It is with great sadness we read this. We have been friends and neighbors for over 30 years. When it came to backing a trailer into her drivewayit was a site to see..usually on first tryeven on busy street. We will miss visiting and your eclectic garage sales. You will be missed Judy, comforting to knowno more pain. Rest in Peace.Take care of yourself Sue, and stop by for a visit sometime.

An original, one of a kind and a force of nature. What a gal.
