Joe Gioffredi

Joe Michael Gioffredi, 61, passed away June 7, 2026.
He was the first-born son alongside his identical twin brother, Jon on January 14, 1965 in Des Moines, Iowa to their parents, Amelio and Eva Gioffredi. Joe graduated from Ankeny High School in 1983. During high school and college, Joe worked at Mr. Steak/Bontel Restaurant. He then attended DMACC and earned his Associates of Applied Science in Computer Programming and started working at Norwest Financial later known as Wells Fargo. He retired as a computer analyst after 25 plus years from Wells Fargo.
Joe had many hobbies throughout his life most of them revolving around sports. He held season tickets for the Buccaneers, Iowa Stars and the Barnstormers for many years. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan and avid golfer. He ran the Ankeny Alumni Associations annual golf tournament with his brother Jon for many years. Joe was also involved in slow pitch softball and adult baseball teams through the years. Joe and Jon also enjoyed renovating and remodeling properties together. Joe was a member of the Ankeny Alumni Association, Knights of Columbus, and the Vittoria Lodge. He also enjoyed rock concerts, riding bicycles, and later motorcycles. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his twin brother, Jon Gioffredi; and cherished cousins in Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, and California.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Amelio and Eva Gioffredi.
Services will be held at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E 1st Street in Ankeny. Family will greet friends Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Thursday, June 18, 2026 begin at 11:00 a.m. Family will greet friends for an hour prior to Mass. Interment to follow Mass at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue in Des Moines.

Worked with Joe a number of years. Enjoyed playing golf with him, and I think he ran me down on a play at 1st during company softball game (I was out of position). I was shocked to see this. He was a really good guy.

I knew Joe from playing softball with him beginning in the 1990's. The twins assembled teams that were very welcoming and friendly, and I always looked forward to seeing them together. My sincere sympathies to Jon and the family.
