James Hale Peterson

James Hale Peterson, age 93, passed away on May 13, 2026.
James was born on August 24, 1932, in Holdrege, Nebraska, to Albert Benjamin and Agnes Mable Peterson. He attended Holdrege High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956.
On December 26, 1955, James married the love of his life, Anita Mildred (Lueking) Peterson. Together, they shared 70 years of marriage filled with love, family, and memories.
James dedicated much of his career to KN Energy, where he worked as a district manager from 1950 until his retirement in 1992. He was also an active member of both the Lions Club and Rotary, valuing service and community involvement throughout his life.
James had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He participated in mission trips through his church and with Orphan Grain Train out of Nebraska. A talented woodworker who could fix just about anything, James enjoyed staying busy and helping others whenever he could. He also loved to travel and proudly visited all 50 states. One of his greatest joys was simply getting behind the wheel and driving.
Above all else, James loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
James is survived by his loving wife, Anita Peterson; his children, Jay (Ann) Peterson and Jim Jr. (Keri) Peterson; his daughter-in-law, Leisa Summers-Peterson; his grandchildren, Marie Peterson, Jessica Peterson, Samantha Hand, Kaitlin Peterson, Alex (Whitney) Peterson, Ryan (Anna) Peterson, Sam Peterson, and Grant Peterson; and his great-grandchildren, Emma Peterson, Tyra Carter, Gabrielle Carter, Everett Hand, and Oliver Hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dave Peterson; and his sister, Marjorie Curtin.
A private family service will be held.
