John "David" Stewart

John David Stewart was born September 1, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to Alexander N. and Dorothy M. (Grother) Stewart. David was a Lutheran Pastor serving parishes in Northeastern Iowa for 36 years. He also pastored in rural New Hampton, Waterloo, and Cedar Falls. David retired to Pleasant Hill in 2000.

David passed away peacefully while under hospice care on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 87.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, 1240 66th Street, Windsor Heights. There will be a time of fellowship following the service. Private burial will take place at Glendale Masonic Cemetery.
