Jerome JerWayne James Leroy Mozee, affectionately known as Rome, passed away on June 29, 2024, in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, at the early age of 24. Born on January 5, 2000, in Des Moines, he was the cherished son of Jamie Lynn Gulley and Jerome Leroy Mozee.

Jerome graduated from East High School in 2018. He was an incredibly talented young man when it came to fixing on cars. He enjoyed working with his hands, may it be working on a bike, car, motorcycle or car audio. He loved spending time with his dog Jamaica and hanging out with his family and friends listening to good hip hop and R&B music that had a banging bass to it.

Jerome was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He had a knack for lifting your spirits with is his goofy jokes and silly impressions. He was a comedian at heart.

Jerome was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and infectious smile. He left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He cared so deeply for the people around him. He made an impact on many lives.

He is survived by his mother, Jamie Lynn Gulley; brothers, Elijah Cobbins, Julien Cobbins, J ‘Sean Thompson, Jerome Mozee Jr, Jeree Mozee, Leon Paris, and Davontae Buckner; sisters, Keyairah Mozee, Shiesha Mozee, Tyreisha Chaplin, and Ritaa Watson; aunt, Felicia Paris; grandfathers, John Wayne Harris and James Carr; a host of other extended relatives and friends.

Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Leroy Mozee; great grandparents, Fred Young and Lorraine Young; grandmothers, Opal Gene Gulley and Joyce Wilson; aunts, Patrica Young, Jessie Mae Cooper, Ira Jean Tidwell, and Margareta Bright; and cousin, Nicholas Young.

Jerome’s legacy of kindness, passion, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Service will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Food will be served after service upstairs in the CDP Community Room.
