Jewell Davis

Jewell Davis, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Jewell was born July 7, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to John Wallace and Lucy Snider.

Family was Jewell’s first priority and she raised three generations of kids. She was always giving back to family and to the community. She volunteered countless hours with Cross on the Rock Ministries and the Salvation Army to assist in the distribution of food and other resources to those in need.

Jewell attended First Church of God in Des Moines. She loved traveling, especially anywhere warm. She enjoyed staying active and going on walks with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Gary Honts (Cheryl), Carrie Ferguson (Scott), Steven Honts (Sandy), Teresa Pope (Danny), Kevin Honts (Denise), Tammy Parshall, David Davis, Savannah Honts (Mason) and Kirsten Honts (Francis); 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert H. Davis; son, Mark Davis; and eleven brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Guests may meet at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, at approximately 11:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. A memorial service will then be held at First Church of God, 4201 E Douglas Ave, Des Moines at 1:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
