Harold "Bud" Fillman Jr.

Harold “Bud” Fillman Jr. passed away on March 13, 2026, at UnityPoint Health Iowa Lutheran Hospital at the age of 95.

Bud was born on March 20, 1930, in Des Moines to Harold and Florence (Evju) Fillman, Sr. He was raised by his father and his step-mother, Lila. Bud graduated from East High School. He was a Des Moines Firefighter for 35 years. Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing as a boy, and his vacations to Minnesota to fish with his dad. After he retired, he and Mary enjoyed wintering in Texas. Bud loved spending time with family and friends, going to church, and watching his beloved Kansas City Chiefs play football. He always had time for a cup of coffee and to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Bud is survived by his granddaughter, Jessica Bohall and his sister, Janet (Jerry) Graves.

He is also survived by his son, Bruce (Kellie) Fillman and his granddaughters, Mariah and Meredith.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Fillman; daughter, Brenda Bohall; son-in-law, James “Jim” Bohall; and his sister, Frances June Mills.

The family will greet friends on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Bud will be laid to rest at Warren Powers Cemetery.
