Garrett A. “Skip” Lenhart, Jr, (79) passed away November 13, 2023 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Skip was born June 5, 1944 to Garrett and Marlys (Swan) Lenhart, Sr. He was a life long resident of the Des Moines area. He was a 1963 graduate of Valley High School and went on to graduate from Drake University. He also spent two years of study at the University of Iowa.
Skip spent his career as an educator. His last move was to Bondurant where he was an English teacher and coach.
He was a very involved and caring parent. He especially liked going to his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Jonathan (Sara) and Garry (Katherine) Lenhart; grandson, Gareth Lenhart; granddaughters, Eryn, Maya, Kyra, Carly, Jocelyn Charlotte, Sara and Kay Marie Lenhart; and brother, Doug (Sondra) Lenhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Marlys Lenhart, Sr., his mother and father-in-law, Glen and Clevia Williams, and Doug’s twin brother.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Bondurant Christian Church, 304 Grant, Bondurant, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 20 also at the church. Burial will follow after the service at Bondurant Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant-Farrar Community School System in loving memory of Skip.

So sorry to hear of Skips passing, I want to reiterate Tamis comments. Having been an English teacher and coach, I now much better understand the continual commitment Skip made to students and athletes. The world is better for his having been in it, and I hope his family is comforted by that knowledge.

Im sorry to read about Skips passing. I worked with Skip at the Civic Center. He was so kind, and always had a big smile on his face! My thoughts are with his family!
