Eileen Marie Mitchell

Eileen Marie (Spetman) Mitchell was born on December 26, 1944 to Paul and Mary (Haack) Spetman. At the time of her death she was 80 years old.

After graduating from Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1962, she began her career with the City of Council Bluffs. Eileen married Carroll Mitchell on February 15, 1964 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. From this union, two wonderful children were born, Kelly in 1967 and Heidi in 1968. Eileen chose to stay home with her children for nine years. Upon re-entering the workforce, she was employed with various companies mostly in the field of mortgage lending and insurance. Her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughters, Morgan Peterson of Johnston and Dakota Mitchell of Kalona, Iowa. Her favorite past times were reading and singing in the church choir.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Carroll; her son, Kelly (Karen) Mitchell of Kalona, Iowa; her daughter, Heidi Peterson of Johnston, Iowa; granddaughters, Morgan Peterson of Johnston and Dakota Mitchell of Kalona, Iowa; sisters, Sharon Bannister of Omaha, Nebraska and Linda Colson of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, John (Susan) of Vancouver, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa with a luncheon following the service. The service will be livestreamed click here.
