Donna Broherd

Donna Lee Broherd, 85, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. She was born October 12, 1940 to Donald and Florence Cramer. Donna graduated from North High School in 1958. In 1960, she attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. Following graduation, she worked for the State of Iowa for many years before she retired in 1998.

Donna enjoyed traveling in her younger years with her husband. They enjoyed traveling to Maine and visiting lighthouses. Donna also enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, and spending time with her dogs. Over the years, Donna found joy in her pets. Her family always remembers her having two dogs and her last two were Shetland Sheepdogs. Even after Donna moved to Valley View Village, she continued her love for dogs finding a new special friend in a therapy dog named Peanut.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Broherd; and her parents.

Donna is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marguerite Parsons and Shirley Mangold; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Memorial service to start at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
