It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David J. Ocasio, 26, of Adel, Iowa on June 8th, 2026. David was born on April 3, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Hospital. He graduated from Waukee High School in 2019 in Waukee, Iowa. He worked for Erosion Worx doing erosion control, a job he truly enjoyed. David was a hard worker, but he also brought joy and laughter wherever he went.

David treasured time spent with the people closest to him. Whether he was dancing and singing, joking with those around him, or simply showing up for the people he cared about, David had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and loved. David treasured time spent with loved ones during the holidays and family gatherings. Some of his family’s most cherished memories are the moments that showed his playful spirit and the love he had for the children in his life.

David had a smile that could light up a room and a charm that made everyone around him feel welcome. He loved to read, had a generous heart, and believed in giving to others when he could. His comedic personality, compassionate spirit, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who know him.

David is survived by his parents, Annalissa and Josh Bohrn of Adel and Jose Ocasio Jr. of New York; his sisters, Angelina Ocasio, Kayte Cook, and Natalie Bohrn; his grandparents, Lenie Mosa, Zaida Ocasio, Jean Miller, and Jose Ocasio Sr.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Services will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed and available the day of the service below. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.
