Service Details

David Neil Fazio, age 62, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Rochester, Minnesota surrounded by family and wrapped in love. He was born on Thursday, March 21, 1963, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Edward Peter and Jacqueline Mary (Hawkins) Fazio, both of whom preceded him in death.

Born and raised on the south side of Des Moines, Dave grew up in a close-knit Italian family where heritage, loyalty, and strong values were a big part of who he was. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1981 and went on to attend Drake University. In 1982, Dave met the love of his life, Becky. They were married in 1984 in Corning, Iowa, and together built a life centered on family, laughter, and showing up for one another. Dave and Becky raised three children, Ashley, David, and Steven, who were the pride and joy of his life.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all else, family was the center of his world. He was fiercely loyal, deeply kind, protective of those he loved, and endlessly understanding. Dave had a way of making people feel safe to be exactly who they were. He never judged, never made anyone feel less than, and had an incredible ability to bring out the best in others.

A hard worker in every sense of the word, Dave held many roles throughout his career and was known as a strong, steady leader. He had a natural ability to inspire and motivate high-performing teams, build positive cultures, and lead with integrity. With extensive experience in technology and the financial services industry, Dave worked tirelessly to provide for his family and create the life he envisioned for them. His work ethic, dependability, and leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Dave was unapologetically himself. Trustworthy, intellectual, courteous, and helpful, he would have given the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it. He showed love in the most practical ways by feeding people, showing up, being present, and using humor to carry others through hard moments. When times were tough, Dave made people laugh. When things were overwhelming, he made life easier.

He never forgot a face and seemed to know someone everywhere he went, maintaining relationships near and far with genuine care. There was always a right way and an easy way to do projects, and then there was the Dave way, which may not have been easy nor necessarily right, but somehow always a success.

Dave loved snuggling with the grandpups, attending every activity the kids were involved in, and tinkering on projects, especially if it meant buying a new tool. He enjoyed traveling with the people he loved, hiding treats around the house, and was a proud supporter of local restaurants, always preferring to eat out and single-handedly keeping at least one establishment in business.

Dave’s love for his grandchildren was deep, intentional, and unwavering. He had a special way of meeting each of them exactly where they were, teaching, guiding, listening, and stepping in whenever he was needed. Whether offering steady support, quiet encouragement, or a sense of humor at just the right moment, Dave made sure every grandchild felt seen, valued, and loved. He was a constant presence, always ready to show up, protect, and care in the ways that mattered most.

Dave is survived by his wife, Becky; his children, Ashley Fazio, David and Shauna Fazio, and Steven and Tayla Fazio; his grandchildren, Peyton, Piper, Edward, and Kyle; and his beloved grandpups, Maverick, Alita, and Sloane. He is also survived by Becky’s parents, Glen and Mary Lou Roberts; his siblings, Lorraine Springer, Linda (Robin) Boatright, Eddie (Cindy) Fazio, Vikki (Doug) Berard, Jeff (Lisa) Fazio, Paul (Cheryl) Fazio, Kevin (Jaime) Roberts, Kendall (Cindy) Roberts, and Tom (Michelle) Roberts, and many nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Dave will remember his devotion, his humor, his steady presence, and his unwavering authenticity. He didn’t try to be someone he wasn’t. He was simply Dave, and that was more than enough.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Memorial service will take place the following day Friday, February 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
