Donald Francis Silk, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Don was born April 12, 1956, in Morris, Illinois. His family was his focus and his greatest joy. He loved family get-togethers and especially the Christmas holiday. His children and his grandchildren gave him immense pride. His favorite day of the week was Sunday to see his family and cheer on the Chicago Bears.

His faith was very important to him and he was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Don enjoyed hanging out with his friends at Pal Joey’s and listening to his favorite band, Three Dog Night.

He is survived by his wife, Coral Silk; daughter, Heather Silk, Melissa “Lisy” Silk (Jeffery Scott), Lindsey Silk, and Carly (Jake) Versteegh; grandchildren, Dominic Wells, Bryson Wells, Ellyanna Wells, Makenna Scott, Mikayla Adkins, Carter Mayes, Miles Versteegh, and Wes Versteegh; siblings, Janis, Susan, and Thomas; sister-in-law, Diane Piercy; brother-in-law, Andy Cleghorn; as well as many extended family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Donald Silk; parents-in-law, Peggy and Harold Cleghorn; sister-in-law, Bonny Young; brothers-in-law, Jerry Cleghorn and Jerry Piercy.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
