Delfina Cruz Villavicencio

Delfina Cruz Villavicencio, age 66, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Delfina was born November 21, 1958, in Paramonga, Peru to Matilde Villavicencio Albina and Jose Cruz Ezpinoza. She grew up on the family farm, where she developed a deep love of gardening and farming. Delfina married Julian Chavez in 1987 in Peru. They immigrated to the United States together in 2005. She carried her love of gardening with her and loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens at her home. She had a special love for roses and could grow the best tomato and pepper plants. She missed Peru and could often be found watching farming shows on television. Delfina was the caretaker for her entire family and was always watching after her grandchildren. She faithfully visited her parents at the cemetery. Delfina was a wonderful cook and she loved to take the time to make different meals to fit everyone’s favorite tastes.

She is survived by her husband, Julian Chavez; children, Susan Chavez, Joe Chavez, and Deisler Chavez; daughter-in-law, Lee Chavez; grandchildren, Melanie Chavez, Matthew Montanez, Ian Chavez, Shine Chavez, and Baugyi Chavez; and great-grandchildren, Marisol Garcia and Francisco Garcia.

Delfina was preceded in death by her parents, Matilde Villavicencio Albina and Jose Cruz Ezpinoza; and her sister and brother, Marcelina Cruz Villavicencio and Nicanor Cruz Villavicencio.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Delfina.

Delfina Cruz Villavicencio, de 66 años, falleció el miércoles 29 de enero de 2025.

Delfina nació el 21 de noviembre de 1958 en Paramonga, Perú, hija de Matilde Villavicencio Albina y José Cruz Ezpinoza. Creció en la granja familiar, donde desarrolló un profundo amor por la jardinería y la agricultura. Delfina se casó con Julián Chávez en 1987 en Perú. Emigraron juntos a los Estados Unidos en 2005. Ella llevaba consigo su amor por la jardinería y le encantaba cuidar los jardines de flores y vegetales de su casa. Tenía un amor especial por las rosas y podía cultivar las mejores plantas de tomate y pimiento. Extrañaba Perú y a menudo se la podía encontrar viendo programas agrícolas en la televisión. Delfina era la cuidadora de toda su familia y siempre estaba cuidando a sus nietos. Visitó fielmente a sus padres en el cementerio. Delfina era una cocinera maravillosa y le encantaba tomarse el tiempo para preparar diferentes comidas que se adaptaran a los gustos favoritos de todos.

Le sobreviven su esposo, Julián Chávez; hijos, Susan Chávez, Joe Chávez y Deisler Chávez; nuera, Lee Chávez; nietos, Melanie Chávez, Matthew Montanez, Ian Chávez, Shine Chávez y Baugyi Chávez; y bisnietos, Marisol García y Francisco García.

A Delfina le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Matilde Villavicencio Albina y José Cruz Ezpinoza; y su hermana y hermano, Marcelina Cruz Villavicencio y Nicanor Cruz Villavicencio.

Los servicios se llevarán a cabo en la funeraria Altoona de Hamilton, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. El velorio será de 5:00 a 7:00 p.m. Martes 4 de febrero de 2025. El funeral se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a. m. del miércoles 5 de febrero de 2025, seguido del entierro en el cementerio Bondurant.
