Carol Ann Ruth

Carol Ann Ruth, 68, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Carol was born September 2, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Mary (Haugh) LaFavor. Carol was the most loving and kind person you’ll ever meet. Her family meant everything to her and she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Carol always remembered her loved ones, sending cards for Christmas, birthdays, and every holiday. She enjoyed watching movies and going to the Omaha Zoo. Carol loved food and was an incredible baker, especially cakes.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Gilbert and Lance Ruth; grandson, Nathan Daniel Hopkins; sisters, Loraine (James) Myers, Frances Skoog, and Sharol Griffin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other loving family, and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary LaFavor; husband, Dennis Ruth; infant son, Daniel James Gilbert; grandson, Ricky D. J. Ashby; sisters, Sharon Ruth, Sandy Medina, Berna Jones, and Linda Schiffer; and half-brother, William LaFavor.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill after the funeral.
