C. Catherine (Cathy) Comer, Des Moines, IA, was called home to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, also at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA. Private inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Cathy was born February 9, 1930, in Des Moines, IA, to Henry and Helen (Thomas) Cox. She lived in Delaware Township, Des Moines, IA since she was 10 years old, moving one door away from where she was raised when she married, built a home there, and lived throughout her life.

Cathy graduated from East High School and was united in marriage to John (Jack) Richard Comer on June 20, 1948, in Des Moines, IA. They were blessed with nearly 69 years of marriage. She worked at John Stoddard Cancer Center at the reception desk 1994 to 2017. As a loving mother and grandmother, family was a central focus. Cathy enjoyed reading and listening to gospel music.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Helen (Thomas) Cox; husband, John R. "Jack" Comer, Sr.; sister, Ilene Thomas, Tucson, AZ; grandsons, Joshua Swackhamer and Danny Paul Selsor.

Cathy leaves behind her son, John (Janice) Comer of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Cathy (Ed) Rawson of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Shawna (Bill) Kraber, Nathan (Amy) Comer, Joe (Sarah) Swackhamer, Lindsay (Justin) Hunerdosse all of Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren, Chase Swackhamer, Ciera Swackhamer, Jimmy McCoy, Salena Comer, Caleb McCoy, Lucas Comer, Elaine Swackhamer, Cayden Jacobs, Josiah Swackhamer, Ethan Swackhamer, Luke Hunerdosse, Jace Hunerdosse, and Boden Hunerdosse, Des Moines, IA.
