Bouahome Vongdara, 80, and passed away on May 9, 2024 in Urbandale. She was born on March 10, 1944 in Vientiane, Laos.

She passed away peacefully with no pain or suffering in her sleep. She was surrounded by all of her children, grandkids and great grandkids.

Bouahome had a stroke in 2001 and was paralyzed on the left side of her body ever since. She never let that stop her from living her best life. She was extremely blessed to live a very long life after, and was able to live in two states and with many family members. She was able to live with 4 of her daughters throughout her life and her remaining 2 years were spent living with her granddaughter’s family, May, Ricardo, Nalani and Nolan.

Bouahome can be described as very caring, stubborn, strong willed and funny woman. She was either always laughing at her family or watching her favorite Thai dramas. Her hobbies consisted of cooking for her family, sewing, gardening, casino dates with her husband, or disciplining her 8 kids.

Bouahome is survived by her children, Anousone Mo (Laramie), Douangsamone Air, Davone Tock (Thien), Naphaphone Tack (Lay), Kinnalone Ta (Khaek), Darakone Noy, Nylandone Katai (Mimi), Phonepaseuth Phon; her grandchildren, Chris, Tj, May (Ricardo), Beta, Kaysone, Krista, Kinnalee, Gong, and Navinn; and great grandkids, Nalani, Nolan and Archie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sithane Vongdara; her father, Home Sundara; and her mother, PinKeo Sundara.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
