Barbara Eileen Loghry
June 06, 1953 — March 05, 2026
Barbara “Barb” Eileen (Reves) Loghry, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026 in Rochester, Minnesota, with her son at her side.
Barbara was born on June 6, 1953 to Rita Joan (Book) and James Arthur Reves at Camp Roberts, California.
Graduating from Adel Desoto Minburn in 1971 as the class valedictorian, Barbara proceeded to attend Loras College. She was proud to graduate among the first female class at Loras. After college, Barbara worked at Mercy in Des Moines, where she became good friends with members of the Mercy community. After retiring from Mercy, Barbara still looked forward to her regular get-togethers with her Mercy friends, and cherished her Civic Center date nights with her best friend Edie.
Barbara also met her “Denny,” while working at Mercy. Dennis and Barbara lived the most loving life together until Dennis passed in 2004. Their last trip together, in California exploring Highway 1, was a core memory of hers.
The epitaph on Dennis’s headstone reads “Friends and Family Forever”, and some of Barbara’s fondest memories come from the many holidays, birthdays, and vacations spent with her own family. Her favorites included a trip to the Czech Republic, and she often regaled about the road trips crammed in the camper with her parents and four siblings.
Barbara loved to craft. In high school, Barbara worked at the local Benjamin Franklin to save money for fabric, so she could craft some of her own dresses. She loved to cross stitch and loved her embroidery projects, which were featured in the Des Moines Register newspaper. She often gifted her projects to friends and family.
In addition to crafting, Barbara loved her dog Tucker, loved to read, enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and loved following “Joshy” and the Buffalo Bills (she still claims that was a catch, not an interception).
She is survived by her mother, Rita; son, James; siblings, Daniel, Stephen, Dianne and Elaine; her daughter-in-law, Lindsey; and her grandchildren, Ella and Bria.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her father, James “Jim”; mother-in-law, Gladys; and father-in-law, Wesley.
Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 10 a.m. with visitation, luncheon, and then burial afterward.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either Animal Rescue League of Iowa (https://arl-iowa.org/), Paws and Claws Humane Society (https://www.pawsandclaws.org/), or Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/)
