Alan Ernest Lewis

Alan Lewis, 70, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 in Carlisle, Iowa.

Alan was born November 25, 1954 to Forest and Neva Lewis in Des Moines, Iowa.

Alan enjoyed spending time with his family above everything. He regularly enjoyed dancing the night away with his wife, Dixie, at Valley Junction. His favorite past times were golfing, gardening, playing card games, fishing and basking in the sun. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and sometimes the Cyclones, depending on whoever was performing better. Alan was a believer of Jesus Christ and a long-time member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Lewis; his children, Emilie (Greg) Meyer, Andrew (Charli) Lewi, Nathaniel (Katie) Lewis, and Maggie Lewis; step-children, Karen Wilson, Mark (Tracy) Wilson, and Crystal Wilson; grandchildren, Asher, Branch, Ruby, Ruthie, Effie, William, Michael, Meghan (Amy), and Caanan; many great-grandchildren; and his brother, Craig Lewis.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Neva Lewis; his brother, Brian Lewis; and sister, Cherie Amadeo.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa and the memorial service on Thursday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3900 Ashworth Road in West Des Moines, Iowa.
