Richard Lutz

Richard T. Lutz, 76, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at First Federated Church in Des Moines.
Richard was born May 9, 1930 in Keokuk, Iowa to Manilla and Rollin Lutz. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid athlete, and at one time was the pitcher for the St. Louis Browns. He was a member of First Federated Church.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Claudine; his daughters: Joni (Rich) Swinford of Colorado Springs, CO, and Sheri Lutz of Minneapolis, MN; his grandchildren Claire, Caroline, and Kevin Swinford of Colorado Springs, CO; his sisters: Edith Harmeyer of Ft. Madison, and Kathleen Calvert of Seattle, WA; and his brother Joseph Lutz of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary Louise Guild; and his granddaughter Beth Denise Swinford.
Visitation will be Monday, 6-8 p.m. April 9, 2007 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Federated Church. or Mercy Hospice.
