Jim Peck, 57, died unexpectedly at his home in Des Moines. He was born on September 5, 1953, to Pearl C. “Pude” and Abbie “Ginger” Peck.
A Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Jim worked at Home Depot South. He was a brick layer, a construction worker, and enjoyed working outdoors.
Jim loved to fish. He was always there to help someone and made so many friends along the way. He was always so sincere, enjoyed a laugh with his friends, and never took anyone for granted.
Jim is survived by his son, Jesse (Shannon); two granddaughters, Lilli Lennon and Tessa Pearl (whom he was SO proud of); sister, Darleen Monahan; and brother, Jerry (Diane) Peck; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce Epps.

Hello to Jim's Family!
I am so sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I haven't been to my southside meeting in some time and didn't realize he'd left us until today. It's not from him not being relevant in my life, by any means! Every time I'd go into the Home Depot he'd tidy up what he was doing to give me a big hug, always so glad and grateful to see me. Every time I attended a meeting with him he was there calling me his "favorite girl" and again with a big, hearty hug. I loved hearing him speak, because for one it was usually concise and to the point, never babbling. He used humor and joy in his sharing, and he exuded humor and joy in his presence. I will miss him dearly and my heart goes out to you all. I can feel his smile and hear his laughter, so I know you will have an amazing angel looking out for you on your journeys. I hope you carry his laughter and joy and peace of mind with you wherever your path takes you.

When ever we would run into each other usually at Home Depot, Jimmy would always take a minute to say hello. Always a smile and a hand shake , and without fail he would ask if i had seen or heard from anyone back in the "DAY" SEE YA JIM. SAVE A SPOT FOR ME.

I will miss seeing Jimmie at the Thursday night meeting as I always looked forward to seeing him and getting one of his "bear" hugs. It was an honor that he would always say to me, "There's my Mom! I gotta give her a hug."

Jesse..much love to your family, I know it must be so hard. I remember your Dad always with a huge smile and his hearty laugh. He would come in the house yelling for "Honda" Jack. Hope they are hanging somewhere swapping old stories. Your family was part of my growing up on the Southside...Hugs from Texas!

We were shocked to read in this morning's paper that Jim had passed on.
"A life well-lived is a precious gift." We will always remember Jim as
a very special friend and miss his wonderful laugh.

We love you Jim and we will truely miss you. It was always so nice when Dave would get to see you at work..bonus for us. It was great when you would work on the roof and made the crew laugh. We have had many many fun times together, going to street parties downtown, how we would get together with the gang and just hang out. After Jeff Thompson died, I thought of so many fun time we had and you were always there in them. You will be so missed by everyone. I hope you and Jeff will meet again and may you rest in peace.

I've enjoyed working with you the last year at home depot! It's not going to be the same anymore not seeing your face in lumber. I'm going to miss you picking on me & all the nicknames you had for me being short. it's been hard on the home depot family, youre already missed alot! & my thoughs & prayers are with you & your family! Our deepest sympathy goes out to Jim's son and his family. We were his and his parents neighbor for the past 16 years, and I will truly miss our over the fence chats, mostly after him having a good day of fishing to share with us. He was a great friend, neighbor and very proud Grandpa. May God use his healing hands to help you through this terrible time of need.

Jesse and all of Jim's family,
My heart is broken to lose a great friend and man. He was a great friend for many many years and is in heaven with my Jeff that just left us not even 4 Months ago. As well as his parents and sister.
