Dorothy Richards

Dorothy M. Richards, 90, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona while on her annual vacation with her daughters to visit her brother. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 East 25th Street, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Dorothy was born February 22, 1917 to John and Nettie Moore in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School in 1934 and married Clare Richards in 1937. Dorothy was an active 81 year member of Capitol Hill Christian Church, the CWF, Daughters of the Nile, and East High Alumni. Clare and Dorothy owned and operated Industrial Machine and Tool for many years. She enjoyed her Toad Valley Ladies Golf League, family Canasta night, and playing the piano. Dorothy loved life, family, and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barb (Ed) Godfrey, Ginger (Bob) Crawford, Peggy (Dick) Stoffer, and Patty (Denny) Maiers; grandchildren, Mark Godfrey, Cheryl King, Karyn Thompson, Julie Wolfe, Jim and Kathy Crawford, Joy, Kate, Amber, and Libby Stoffer, Elissa Johnson, Courtney, Michael, Jonathan, and Meghan Maiers; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, John “Windy” (Betty Jane) Moore; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Richards; and infant daughter, Nancy Richards.
Memorial contributions may be given to Capitol Hill Christian Church.
