Rev. Lawrence A. Daugherty

Rev. Lawrence A. Daugherty was born January 2, 1923, and departed this life January 28, 2011, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday, January 31, 2011, at the funeral home.

Lawrence founded Easton Baptist Church, and co-founded Southtown Baptist Church, both in Des Moines. He also pastored at Woodland Hills Community Church in Runnells, and First Grace Brethren Church in Des Moines. Always the Pastor, he didn’t miss an opportunity to share with others about Jesus, even in the last hours of life. His greatest desire was to be with his loving wife Mary, who preceded him in death in March of 2010.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his son Len (Deenie) Daugherty; grandchildren: Jeff (Danielle) Daugherty, Tammy (Keith) Ver Steeg, Craig (April) Daugherty, and Brad Daugherty; 16 great grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary; and four sisters.
