Service Details
Per Alice’s wishes, her body has been donated in hopes of finding a cure for lupus. Also per her wishes, no services are planned. Her cremated remains will be scattered in Arkansas at a later date.
In her quest for new adventures and places, we experienced more things in our growing years then most people dream of in a lifetime. Thank you, Mom.
She maintained lifelong friendships and new ones along the way. Those of you who know and loved Alice, those of you who haven’t seen her in a while, know that she died as she lived; doing it her way.
Alice is survived by Lisa Davis and Steven Pinckney, both of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Justin Smith, Audrey Pinckney and Brittney Pinckney, also of Des Moines; 4 great grandchildren and one due in April; brother, Robert Rasmussen of Arizona; and sisters, Mary Bowman and Doris Rasmussen, both of Tennessee.
Memorials may be made to Unity Lutheran Church, the Animal Rescue League or to the family.

My sympathy to your family. I saw Alice's obituary in Des Moines Register and some childhood memories prompted me to try to get in touch with you. I am Nora Townswick's youngest daughter. Nora was Margaretha's sister. I would sure be interested in hearing from any one or all of you. Our family is getting smaller - with each passing we lose a little connection to our heritage. Had I'd known Alice was that ill, I would have called or visited her, even though we had not seen each other in years. She was a fun person in side the workplace and even more so outside of the workplace. she was a good boss at D.N.R.
