Molly passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Molly was born in Knoxville, IA to Benjamin Harrison and Nellie Gholson on September 27, 1939. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1957. She studied music at Drake University. She married Jim Schoonover on October 25, 1958.
She is survived by her husband Jim; son, Michael; daughters, Elaine Schoonover and Allyson Anderson; granddaughters, Amber Cole, Caroline, Madelyn, Martha and Katie Schoonover; sisters, Marita Mastrofski, Adrienna Clark, Sally Garfield, Susan Gholson, Michaeleen Parks and brother, Harrison Gholson.
A visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18. A Memorial Service will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines on Wednesday, January 19 at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dear Mike, Caroline, Madelyn, Martha, and all,
Sympathies for the loss of your mom and grandma.
I think I've told you, Mike, that Molly and I were break buddies when we
worked nights for the Post Office at the Remote Encoding Center. I enjoyed
her company, her grounding energy, and her sense of humor.
