Karen Shae Collins

Karen Collins, 66, passed away December 25, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Karen was born June 14, 1944, to Helen and Woodrow Stamper in Des Moines, Iowa.

Karen loved spending time with her grandkids and family, they were truly her life. She loved to cook Sunday dinners for Anthony and the rest of her family. Karen’s life was full of taking care of others. She enjoyed visiting garage sales and playing cards.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Jody) Collins; grandchildren, Nacia and Nathan; companion, Anthony DeCarlo; siblings, Gerald Stamper, Verta Andrews, Frank Stamper, Connelly Stamper, Norma France, Judy Braucht, and Barbara Kimbiel. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerome Collins; and brother, Richard Stamper.

Per Karen’s request cremation has occurred and no services will be held. Memorial contributions and memories may be sent to Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309. They will then be forwarded onto the family.

The three words to best describe Karen: CARING, LOVING and GIVING.

God needed a special angel,
One Loving, good and kind,
And so he chose our mother,
And left us all behind.

The tears we shed were many,
Our hearts were filled with pain.
But our loss upon this earth,
Was surely Heaven's gain.

And though her heart no longer beats,
Her memory lives within.
Time can never erase the love,
For our mother and best friend.
