Karen L. Evans

Karen Louise Evans, 71 of Mitchellville went to be with her Lord on December 22, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Karen was born on November 28, 1939, in Des Moines to Harriet and Hobart Bertrand. On November 20, 1959, she married Neal Evans in Des Moines. In 1959 they moved to San Diego, California, and in 1991 they returned to live in Iowa. Karen loved shopping and spending time with her family, she had an amazing ability to make and keep friends.

Karen is survived by her husband of 51 years, her son Wade (Reyna) Evans, daughter; Wanda (Charles) Mullins, two grandchildren; Grant and Joy, two sisters, Barbara Greenfield and Rita Bolles, many nieces and nephews, a host of friends and her beloved dog Amos.

Karen was preceded by her infant daughter, Alicia K. Evans, her parents, and her brother Byron Bertrand.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
