Velma May Merical

Velma May Merical, 89, passed away at the Genesis Senior Living Center in Des Moines, IA, on Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunnyhill Cemetery, Grimes, IA.

Velma had a giving spirit and was loved by family and friends. She supported the Easter Seals organization and she cherished the time she spent with her granddaughters. Everyone who knew her will greatly miss her jokes and her sense of humor.

Velma is survived by her daughter, Connie Beeson; her step-daughters, Sharon Bell and Joan Heatherwick; her grandsons, Bryan Farwell and Bobby Heathcote; and her great-granddaughters, Ashley and Brittaney Farwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Merical and her daughter, Sandra Beeson.
