Ronald Karns, 63, passed away December 21, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center.
Ronald was born April 28, 1947, to Betty Still. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and retired from John Deere. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Elaine Karns; daughters, Michele (Dan) Burke and Laura Truslow; brothers, Willie (Evelyn) Karns, Raymond (Eleanor) Karns, and Donald (Betty) Karns; sisters, Phyllis (Boyd) Kale, and Connie (Glenn) Moore; 7 grandchildren, Earl and Stephen Sengbusch, Emily, Foss and Griffin Truslow, and Jeremiah and Dustin Burke; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ralph Karns and David Still.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 26th, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27th, 2010, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Ronald.

Elaine, I want to express my sympathy to you in the loss of your husband. While we never met, I have thought of you and your family often. I pray for your daughters to never forget the love of their father. I know in my heart he loved his son, my husband Patrick Alan, as well and I am so thankful Pat has followed in his footsteps to become an honorable soldier and father himself.
I wish you all peace and goodness in life and that GOD shines down on you to bring you comfort during this time.

Dear Elaine, Earl and family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Ron. I had been praying for him though his hospital stay as Leah kept me updated. I am praying for the Lord's Holy Spirit to comfort you all at this sad time. May Christ's peace that surpasses all understanding be upon you all.
Leah was blessed to know Ron this last year. I know how close Earl was to his Grandfather and my heart aches too at your loss.

My uncle Ron is the man responsible for putting the rod and reel in my hand! I am very thankful he did I have learned alot from him even though he made me carry the bait and be the "gopher" boy for him. I enjoyed every time we went fishing together. Thank you Ron for everything you have done for me and my family! We will miss you greatly.
I hope you are enjoying all the time you have fishing in heaven! Catch that big one that got away here! I have many memories of us out late at night fishing catching the big ones and the nights we didn't get a bite. I will never forget what you have done for me and taught me! Thank you very much uncle!

Iam sorry for your loss.Ron worked with and later for me at Deere,He was always one you could count on.Most of all he was friendly,outgoing and well liked by everyone in dept 13A&13B

I was sadden to hear of the passing of Ron Karns .
" Lumpy " as he was affectionately known by his co-workers at John Deere . Lumpy was a great guy, he loved to tease and play practical jokes on all of his co-workers every chance he got !
He was always full of stories especially about Fishing his passion .
I will best remember Lumpy for all the dinners we shared at work the guys would pool their money togeather and have Lumpy pick up the food for the night .....we never left work hungry !
My deepest sympathy to Earl and the Karns family .
