George Gale, 78, passed away at his home of cancer December 12, 2010.
George was born June 29, 1932, in Des Moines. He was a Korean War Veteran. George retired from Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel and was the primary caregiver for his mother for many years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved gardening, flowers and bird watching.
George is survived by his wife, Joy; children, Tim (Shari) Boozell Gale, Loralee (Leo Cowles) Gale, Valerie (Jennifer Haney) Gale and Rebecca Gale; siblings, Bill (Marie) Gale, Evelyn Niccolai and Jack (Sandra) Gale; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Our sincere condolences to Joy Anne & the Gale family.
I am thankful for the opportunity to meet & spend time with George, through my marriage to Richard.
George was a good man & we enjoyed talking with him & hearing his stories.
He always made us smile!
We know he will be dearly missed & we have faith that he is now at peace.
God rest his soul & peace be with the family.

I love you Dad. You were always amazing to me and accepted me for who I am. I am glad you are at peace, but you will be missed so much here on Earth. I'm glad that I got to tell you that Jenni and I are getting married and that you know I am so happy. I want you to know that you will never be forgotten and in our hearts forever.
