Service Details

This year Paul Lett will spend Christmas in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with his loving wife, Mary, and the rest of our family who have gone on before. What a celebration!

Paul passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at his home. He was born March 18, 1918, to parents Grace and Ora. He had two brothers, Gene and Jim, sister, Juanita, all of which preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 64 years, Mary.

Paul graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked as a Guard at the Ordinance plant from 1941 until the end of WWII then began working at John Deere Des Moines Works until his retirement in 1977, after 30 years of service. He was a long standing member of Union Park Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters, Linda (Gary) Sellner, and Marianne (Dennis) Smoot; grandchildren, Paula Rubino, Jeff Sellner, Jill Schroeder, Matt Smoot, and Dan Smoot; great-grandchildren Jake and Jessica Smoot.

Although he will be greatly missed we know he is free of pain and in a much better place. We also know we shall one day see him again.

Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 16, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Paul.
