Rose Marie Brazelton, 84, passed away December 8, 2010, at Bishop Drumm Care Center, where she had resided for the past eight years.

Rose Marie was born October 17, 1926, in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Freida McGavran. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy High School. Throughout her life she was a spiritual writer, sharing her words with loved ones and friends. Rose Marie was an active member of St. Peters Catholic Church, singing in the choir, as lector, as a minister of Eucharist and as a visitor to the ill. She became an LPN later in life and worked at the Americana Nursing Home for a short while.

Rose Marie is survived by her loving husband, John. They had been married for 46 ½ years and spent many happy times together. John had cared for Rose Marie for the last 17 years that she suffered from Alzheimer’s. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Juanita Brazelton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at Our Lady of Peace Chapel at Bishop Drumm, 5837 Winwood Drive in Johnston, followed by viewing and a reception. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rose Marie will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
