Bonnie Helen Vancil died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 21 at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, KS where she had been a resident for 2-1/2 years. She had suffered from dementia for the last five years and moved to Delmar Gardens to be near her children.

Bonnie was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 5, 1922 to Harry and Grace Brown. She lived all of her life in Des Moines and retired from Iowa Methodist Medical Center where she worked as a nurse's aid for many years. She married Leonard Vancil on June 1, 1946 and to this union two children were born.
Bonnie is survived by her two children, J.W. Vancil (Linda) of Olathe, KS and Pam Brewer (Ron) of Gladstone, MO; five grandchildren, Julie Tammen of Shawnee, KS; Brad Vancil of Ankeny, IA; Jason Brewer and Ryan Brewer of Kansas City, MO; and Melissa Brewer of Gladstone, MO; six great-grandchildren, Jenna and Cooper Tammen, Trinity and Khyler Brewer, and Brianna and Gabriel Brewer; and her brother, Raymond Brown of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Vancil, and her brothers Wayne, Kenneth, David and George.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, with visitation one hour before the service at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.
