William “Billy” Slater, Jr., 56, died October 18, 2010, of liver failure. He was born January 15, 1954, and was a lifetime resident of Des Moines.
Billy is survived by his sisters, Tanna Freel, Terry Rew and Teresa Hesseltine, all of Des Moines; brother, Robert Slater, of Carson City, NV; step-siblings, Sylvia Numez, Alice Johnson, Donnie O’Connor, Marlene Hilding James O’Connor and Lori Biagoli. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred O’Connor; father, William Slater, Sr.; and step-brother, Charles O’Connor, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, October, 23, 2010, at Amvets Post #2, 2818 5th Avenue.
