William Castings

William “Billy” Castings, 67, passed away October 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center.

William was born October 8, 1943 in Des Moines. He graduated from North High School. William enjoyed puzzles and sports and was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. He loved tracking all types of statistics found in the World Almanac. William was a member of Community Christ Church.

William is survived by his mother, Mildred Castings; sister, Donna (Bob) Marasco; nephew, Nick (Lynn) Marasco; niece, Jody (Shaun) McVey; great-nieces and great-nephews, Nicole, Katie and Michael McVey and Jack and Ben Marasco. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Castings.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Lowman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Indianola Residential Facility and Dallas County Center for Developmentally Disabled for the wonderful and respectful care that William was given over the years.
