Denver Levi Smith, 35, passed away October 13, 2010 in Jacksonville, IL in a work related accident.
Denver was born September 2, 1975 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Michael and Linda (Sires) Smith. He was a member of the Army ROTC. Denver worked as a steamfitter and was a proud brother of Local #33. He was an avid Hawkeye and Packer fan.
Denver is survived by his mother, Linda Smith; father, Michael (Connie) Smith; siblings, Steve (Sally) Strah, Melissa Smith and Ashlee (Thomas) Lydiard; fiancé, Ann Lankford; nephews, Evan Hoover and Evan Weathers; niece, Kenedi Loar; and his grandmother, Helen Smith of Oskaloosa, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Dear Linda & family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart aches for the tremendous saddness you must feeling.
I was in a training class yesterday at the Hoover Bldg when my co-worker told those of us in the class about Denver's accident. And I know that everyone in the class at the Iowa Department of Revenue is thinking about you & your family and keeping you in our prayers.
I pray you find peace in God's promise of eternal life. I can tell you that is the only way I got thru the loss of my daughter, Rachael and I pray that it helps you too. Because although it's not fair that a young life was taken from you too soon and you'll ask why many times frustrated that there's no answer, I hope you find comfort that Denver lives on in heaven and he feels no pain and suffering. God will take good care of him until you meet again someday.

Denver was a special cat. He was funny and quite the comedian at times. I can think of several times he had me in stitches because he was clowning. He was a great guy and even though he is gone now we will remember him always. He was part of our Fu family and we will miss him very much. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and you are not suffering alone.

Denver was such an amazing person. There is no one else like him. I always saw him happy and making other people laugh. He will very much be missed by all of those who had a chance to spend time with him. I will miss his smile and seeing how much he loved Ann. My thoughts are prayers are with his family, Ann and her family during this tough time. Keep those happy memories alive. I know there are many of them!
