Anna B Green

Anna B Green, 92, passed away July 27, 2010 at Taylor House Hospice.

Anna was born July 15, 1918 in Newton, IA to Edwin Elgia and Lena Rachel (Combs) Meade. She married Richard B. Green in November of 1940 and they made their home on the Eastside where she continued to live for 67 years. After raising her family, Anna went back to school and obtained her LPN degree. She worked and retired from Broadlawns Medical Center. Also, together with her husband Richard they raised one of the most beautiful gardens on the Eastside. Her family will always love the comfort that her handmade afghans bring them. In their younger years, she and her husband loved playing bridge with friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Marcia Camper; grandchildren, Laurie (Mark) Kolstead, Arla (Doug) Darling, Glen Green, Angela (Dan) Lundstrom, Pamela Camper and Eric Camper; and great-grandsons, Jacob, Nicholas, Leighton, Grant and Gabriel, all of the Des Moines area. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and son Mike.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Masonic Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Having been a nurse at Broadlawns for many years, Anna developed a true passion for working with underprivileged youth in the Des Moines area. To honor her memory, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Youth Emergency Shelter Services or American Cancer Society.
