Susan K. Smith

Susan K. Smith, 62 of Urbandale Health Care Center, went to be with her Lord May 13, 2010 after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Susan was born January 18, 1948 in Atlantic, Iowa to her parents, Harold and Clara Petersen. Susan was a beautician for 17 years and owned a salon in Norwalk before opening a meat and cheese specialty shop in Ankeny. Susan later worked as an executive chauffer for Principal Financial Group. Susan was a long time resident of Norwalk.

Susan is survived by her daughter Julie Jorris of Norwalk; son, Jason Smith of Urbandale; granddaughter, Allison Jorris of Norwalk; sister, Rita Windle; brother Dave (Kathy) Petersen of Norwalk; two nieces and two nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, on Tuesday, May 18 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm on Tuesday. A reception will follow.

Memorial donations can be made to the National MS Society in Susan’s honor. Mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend you will be greatly missed.
