Norman Sandin, 85, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. He was born on August 17, 1924 to John and Edith Sandin in Des Moines.
Norman was an Army veteran from WWII, a Little League coach and served on the Saydel School Board for many years. For 50 years, he owned and operated the Sandin Company.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patty; daughter, Suzanne (Jerry) Kenyon; sons, John Sandin, Rick (Lisa) Sandin; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Annabelle) Sandin. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Don, Roy and Harold.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Evangelical Covenant Church or Valley View Village in loving memory of Norman.

Patty and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Norman was always very special to me; maybe it's because we both came to VVV around the same time. In a way he reminded me of my father, who I lost when I was only 19. One could tell that he was a special man by the love and support he was given by his family. Thank you for letting me a part of your lives through Norman. I know that he is in a much better place, free from pain and suffering. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. We had wanted to go to the funeral to support you but will be in the middle of a 4 day trip. Please know that we are praying that the God of all comfort and peace surround you with His love.
