Jack Mitchell

Jack Leroy Mitchell, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery.

Jack was born August 11, 1932 in Des Moines, the son of Robert and Elsie (Erickson) Mitchell. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Jack retired from Kraft Foods after 35 years, followed by his employment at Hy-Vee for the next ten years.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barb; children, Dan Mitchell, Connie (Jim Cate) Mitchell and Larry Mitchell; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two on the way; siblings, Bob (Betty) Mitchell, Jim (Marilyn) Mitchell and Pat (Frank) Sarcone and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlene and his parents.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in loving memory of Jack.
