James Foulkes

James R. Foulkes of Des Moines passed away at age 68 at Taylor House on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jim was born in Des Moines on February 21, 1942 to Kenneth and Ruby Foulkes. The youngest of two sons, he worked for the Des Moines Register for 45 years.

He was married to the love of his life, Anna Marie Dennis on October 3, 1964 in Des Moines.

Jim was a fun loving father and grandfather who enjoyed playing practical jokes on his sons and grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna, his parents, Kenneth and Ruby, his brother, William and his grandson, Cyle Dennis. He will be missed by his family; his sons, Robert (Diane) Dennis, David (Pattie) Dennis, Brian Foulkes (Kerri) and Gary Foulkes; 10 grandchildren.

A "heartfelt thank you" to Dr. Kathleen Gannon, Janet and her staff for their care and support to Jim and the Foulkes family. A special thanks to the Taylor House staff for their care and kindness in Jim’s final days.
